ARX Robotics secured its first British Army contract through Task Force RAPSTONE and began UK manufacturing of autonomous ground vehicles. The order covers GEREON uncrewed ground vehicles configured with intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance payloads, plus technical support for Recce-Strike experimentation.
The contract sits inside a ?45 million UK expansion plan targeting production of up to 1,800 robotic vehicles annually and at least 90 skilled jobs. ARX says the first UK-manufactured GEREON vehicles were refined through field exercises in Kenya and the Baltics with British Army operators, giving the manufacturing story a field-feedback loop rather than a factory announcement alone.
ARX was founded in 2022 by former German Army officers Marc Wietfeld, Maximilian Wied, and Stefan Roebel, who now serve as CEO, CFO, and COO. The company raised EUR31 million in Series A funding in 2025 from HV Capital, Omnes Capital, and the NATO Innovation Fund. Its GEREON vehicles support reconnaissance, logistics resupply, route clearance, casualty evacuation, and force protection, while Mithra OS is built to integrate autonomy, sensors, and software control across robotic and legacy military fleets.
The partnership stack is important. RENK and ARX formed a collaboration covering Mithra OS integration with RENK mobility systems, joint product development, and co-located production sites. Exercise Haraka Storm in Kenya integrated an ARX GEREON UGV with Helsing's HX-2 loitering munition in a ground-to-air Recce-Strike sequence with British Armed Forces, showing GEREON as part of a targeting chain rather than only a small ground robot.
The competitive field includes Milrem Robotics, Rheinmetall Mission Master, QinetiQ ground robots, Ghost Robotics payload integrations, Anduril ground systems, Rheinmetall and KNDS unmanned vehicle programs, and military UGV work inside national defense labs. ARX's distinction is software-defined interoperability: GEREON vehicles plus Mithra OS, built for European forces that want ground robots and legacy platforms to fit into a common autonomy layer.
Public material does not show delivered unit counts by customer, total fleet sizes with British or European forces, precise Task Force RAPSTONE contract value, production cadence by facility, or measured field performance from active deployments in Ukraine. The strategic question is whether ARX can turn European defense urgency into a standard ground-robot operating layer. If UK manufacturing, Mithra OS, and Recce-Strike experimentation converge, ARX becomes less of a UGV supplier and more of an interoperability vendor for robotic ground forces.
