The partnership sits on top of a rapid industrial buildout: Saronic had raised $600 million in Series C funding in 2025, won a $392 million U.S. Navy production contract, acquired Gulf Craft in Louisiana, and later closed $1.75 billion in Series D funding at a $9.25 billion valuation. Dino Mavrookas is co-founder and CEO after eleven years as a Navy SEAL and private-equity work at Vista Equity Partners. Rob Lehman is co-founder and chief commercial officer, Vibhav Altekar is co-founder and vice president of software, and Doug Lambert is co-founder and head of engineering. The company now reports more than 1,300 employees and more than 500,000 square feet of Austin headquarters space. The vessel portfolio spans small and medium autonomous surface vessels. Corsair is a 24-foot ASV with up to 1,000 pounds of payload and more than 1,000 nautical miles of range. Mirage is a 40-foot ASV. Marauder is a 180-foot ASV designed for logistics and at-sea payload deployment, with capacity for 150 metric tons in modular payload configurations. The shipyard piece is central. Saronic acquired Gulf Craft in April 2025, giving the company a Gulf Coast manufacturing base in Franklin, Louisiana, and tied the acquisition to Marauder and autonomous shipbuilding capacity. The company later increased the Louisiana expansion commitment to about $300 million. For autonomous maritime systems, software and hull production have to mature together because naval customers need supply, maintenance, and production cadence, not only autonomy demos. The competitive field includes Saildrone, Sea Machines, Anduril maritime systems, Maritime Applied Physics, L3Harris unmanned surface vessels, traditional shipbuilders, and Navy-led autonomy programs. Saronic's distinction is vertical industrialization: vessel design, autonomy software, shipyard capacity, NVIDIA compute collaboration, Navy production demand, and now classification work with Lloyd's Register. Public material still does not provide delivered vessel counts by customer, long-duration autonomy logs, fleet availability rates, unit economics, maintenance burden, or production cadence across the vessel family. The Lloyd's Register partnership positions Saronic around a harder scale problem: autonomous ships need certification, classification, and regulator trust before they can move across allied and commercial waters.
