The company lists a 5-foot-9-inch robot, roughly 60-kilogram weight, 15-kilogram payload capacity, 38 degrees of freedom, and more than five hours of expected runtime, with the February 2026 build-log entry focused on manipulators and training after earlier milestones for foundation work, hardware tests, and initial locomotion. The Mumbai company is aiming at structured industrial tasks before broad household work. Its public roadmap lists beta deployment in 2027, expected pricing from Rs. 20,000 per month, and industrial use as the first deployment type. That pricing language is unusually direct for an early humanoid program, but it should be read as a target until customers, contracts, and support terms are disclosed. Vanar is also unusually explicit about its hardware choices. The company says major parts of Generation 1 are built in-house, including actuators, manipulators, structure, and core software. Its manipulator notes describe underactuated tendon fingers, a current prototype working load of 5 kilograms per finger, grip-state inference from motor current and positional behavior, and thumb opposition for precision grasps. The build strategy fits a cost-sensitive Indian robotics entry. Imported actuators, dense tactile arrays, and premium sensors can make humanoids look advanced while pushing them away from local industrial buyers. Vanar is making a different trade: in-house mechanics, visible iteration, and a monthly price target intended to make beta testing plausible if the hardware can hold up. The competitive field includes Indian robotics companies moving into factory automation, global humanoid developers such as Figure, Apptronik, Tesla, and Unitree, and low-cost build-log communities using open hardware and local manufacturing. Vanar's distinction is transparency around build progression and price ambition rather than polished deployment evidence. Public material does not yet show repeated customer tasks, safety validation, autonomy under shift conditions, maintenance data, paid beta agreements, or independent performance tests. Vanar's strategic value is the build-log discipline itself.
