About Alt-Bionics, Inc.
Surge uses six powered degrees of freedom to control the fingers and thumb while retaining a modular architecture that allows individual fingers to be replaced. Alt-Bionics states a load capacity of up to 18 kilograms per hand, closing time of roughly 400 milliseconds and repeatability below one millimetre.
Tactile versions distribute sensing across the fingers, with up to 80 taxels on each finger for contact localisation and grip feedback. The hand operates from a 48-volt supply and communicates over RS-485, allowing it to mount on humanoids or robot arms as an integrator-ready manipulation component rather than a complete robot platform.
