About Bioservo Technologies

Carbonhand uses pressure sensors in the fingers and palm to detect when the wearer begins to grasp an object. Small motors pull artificial tendons running through the glove, adding configurable force to the thumb, middle and ring fingers. The control system updates assistance every few milliseconds, while an application lets clinicians or users adjust sensitivity, force and grip profiles.

The power and control unit can be worn at the waist, on the back or attached to a wheelchair. Carbonhand is used within therapist-supervised rehabilitation and for daily tasks requiring additional grip. Bioservo sold the Ironhand industrial product rights to Skelex in June 2024 and now concentrates its commercial and clinical development on life-science applications.
