About Bioxtreme
BioXtreme’s rehabilitation method deliberately amplifies selected movement errors alongside guided movement along a correct path. PlaXtreme applies controlled forces while the user performs hand and finger tasks, making the difference between the intended and completed movement more noticeable to the nervous system. DexTreme extends the approach to the shoulder, elbow and wider upper limb.
A therapist assesses the patient and selects an exercise within a three-dimensional interactive task. The robot measures the movement, applies an adaptive error force and records the response over repeated sessions. Machine-learning software adjusts task difficulty and force according to performance, while clinicians use the resulting data to follow progress and modify treatment. The systems supplement therapist-led neurological rehabilitation, with clinicians retaining responsibility for treatment.
