About Canon Machine Vision

Canon’s RV Series uses structured three-dimensional imaging to locate industrial parts and calculate their position and orientation for a robot. A projector and camera capture the shape of the workpiece, while Canon software matches the resulting depth information with registered models. The system can recognise parts in bins or changing presentations without requiring every item to be placed in a fixed fixture.

The Universal Robots package connects the vision controller with a UR cobot through supported software and calibration tools. An integrator registers the part, defines candidate grasp poses and links the output to the robot programme for picking, machine tending or assembly. Canon supplies the imaging and recognition layer, while the customer adds the robot, gripper, bin and surrounding safety system needed for the production cell.
