About Dephy
Sidekick places a motor, sensors and adaptive controller around the ankle and connects assistance through a carbon-fibre footplate. The device detects gait phase and adds torque during push-off, reducing the muscular work required for walking. Its control system changes behaviour with terrain and pace across level ground, inclines, stairs and faster movement.
Users wear a powered unit on each leg and adjust support through the associated interface. Sidekick is being developed as a consumer wellness and mobility product outside the regulated medical-device pathway. Dephy’s underlying wearable-robotics platform has also supported research and product partnerships, including Nike’s Project Amplify, and the company reports more than ten million accumulated test steps.
