About Flywheel AI
Flywheel installs cameras, communications, sensing and drive-by-wire interfaces on existing excavators so an operator can control the machine from a remote station. The interface returns multiple video views and machine state while safety software detects people or obstacles and constrains selected commands. One operator can access equipment across different sites without remaining inside the cab.
Teleoperated work also generates synchronised observations, control inputs and task outcomes from real construction environments. Flywheel uses this robotics dataset to train semi-autonomous and later autonomous excavation policies around loading, grading and other repeated operations. Flywheel currently supplies remote operation and safety assistance, while autonomous excavation remains under development.
