About IRIM Lab (KOREATECH)
IRIM Lab develops mechanisms and control systems for robots that physically interact with people and unstructured environments. Its work includes tendon-driven manipulators, flexible robotic hands, wearable exoskeletons and powered prosthetic joints, with mechanical compliance used to improve safety, contact behaviour and power transmission.
The laboratory developed the FLLEX hand around fluid-lubricated flexible finger mechanisms and contributed to AMBIDEX, NAVER LABS’ cable-driven bilateral manipulator, through a collaboration that began in 2016. Research from the group has also been transferred into commercial wearable robotics through WIRobotics, extending its mechanism work from academic prototypes into mobility-assistance products.
