About Merlin
Merlin is developing an aircraft-agnostic autonomy stack intended for integration into legacy and next-generation fleets rather than a single proprietary airframe. The system couples a flight-control computer with full-phase control software and an automated communication system that uses natural-language processing for air-traffic interaction. Merlin says the platform has accumulated hundreds of autonomous flights across global test sites.
The Boston company serves both civil and defence programmes. Its U.S. special-operations C-130J work carries more than $100 million in aggregate IDIQ ceiling value, while its New Zealand programme is establishing a regulator-agreed path for certifying the core autonomy and AI-assisted communication functions. Merlin became publicly traded on Nasdaq under MRLN in 2026 and operates test facilities in New Zealand, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
