About Silicon Microgravity
SMG uses resonant MEMS structures to measure motion and very small changes in gravitational acceleration. Its inertial products include accelerometers and gyroscopes designed for low bias drift, shock tolerance and compact packaging, while the GAIA gravity sensor targets measurements below five microgals for subsurface and geophysical applications.
The two product groups serve different workflows. Inertial devices provide continuous navigation or stabilisation when GNSS is unavailable, while gravity instruments detect density changes associated with underground resources, storage or infrastructure. The company has moved through field trials and initial commercialisation rather than remaining solely a university sensor project.
