About The Small Robot Company

The Small Robot Company separated crop observation from treatment through a fleet of lightweight field machines. Tom travelled through arable fields collecting imagery and other measurements at plant level, while the Wilma intelligence layer converted those observations into maps of weeds, pests, crop condition and soil compaction. Dick was developed as the treatment robot, using electrically delivered weeding to act only on selected plants rather than applying a uniform chemical programme.

Farmers used the resulting per-plant records to decide where intervention was needed and to measure field variation over time. Tom was designed to collect up to 6 TB of data per day, creating a detailed operating layer beneath agronomic recommendations and precision treatment. The company entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation in February 2024 after failing to secure sufficient capital, and Small Robot Company Limited was dissolved on 30 April 2026. Its record therefore represents a completed UK precision-agriculture programme rather than a currently supported commercial service.
