About Tortuga AgTech

Tortuga developed mobile harvesting systems that combined crop imaging, fruit detection, ripeness classification and robotic picking. Its strawberry robots travelled through growing environments, located suitable fruit and used manipulation hardware designed to reach and detach delicate produce without damaging neighbouring plants. A wider operating fleet generated data on crop variation, picking success and failure recovery.

Oishii acquired Tortuga’s key intellectual property, assets and selected engineering personnel in March 2025. The technology is being integrated with Oishii’s vertically farmed strawberry operations and its Yaskawa automation partnership. The acquisition ended Tortuga’s independent operation, and its perception, hardware and fleet experience now sit within Oishii.
