About Verb Surgical

Verb Surgical was established by Johnson & Johnson and Verily to develop a connected surgical platform combining robotics, advanced instruments, visualisation and data analytics. The programme aimed to connect robotic assistance with preoperative information, intraoperative guidance and post-procedure learning through one digital system.

Johnson & Johnson agreed to acquire Verily’s remaining interest in 2019 and brought Verb fully into its medical-device organisation. The work became part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s wider digital-surgery programme, including development that contributed to the Ottava robotic-surgery system. Verb Surgical no longer operates as an independent joint venture.
