About Inchworm Space Robot
GITAI’s Inchworm robot uses grapple end effectors at both ends of an articulated arm. Either end can anchor to a compatible interface while the other manipulates a payload or attaches to a new point, giving the arm both tool-changing capability and the ability to move across spacecraft or lunar structures.
The robot has performed regolith, construction and thermal-vacuum testing for tasks including drilling, fastening, inspection and tower assembly. GITAI reported TRL 6 for lunar conditions and links the design to components already demonstrated at higher readiness in low-Earth orbit.
