About Joby Aircraft

Joby’s powered-lift aircraft carries one pilot and four passengers and uses six electric tilt-propeller units for vertical flight, transition and wing-borne cruise. Four isolated battery packs and a triple-redundant flight computer provide layered system redundancy, while the aircraft is designed to reach speeds up to 200 miles per hour.

Joby designs and manufactures the airframe, propulsion, controls and critical electronics within an integrated certification and production programme. Toyota is contributing manufacturing engineering and production-system expertise as Joby prepares to scale assembly. The aircraft remains in the final stage of FAA design certification and is not yet operating as a generally available commercial passenger service.
