About SONIC
SONIC is a research framework for training humanoid whole-body tracking policies from large collections of human motion. Motion data are retargeted to a robot body and used within physics simulation to train a controller that reproduces diverse locomotion, athletic and expressive movements while maintaining balance.
The trained policy runs on physical humanoids and can serve as the low-level controller beneath interactive motion generators or higher-level embodied planners. NVIDIA has demonstrated SONIC-related control on Unitree G1 systems and connected it with projects including ARDY and Vesta. SONIC is an NVIDIA Research robotics project and controller framework.
