About SeaPower Batteries
SeaPower uses polymer-matrix encapsulation to protect lithium-ion cells directly against subsea pressure. The architecture removes pressure vessels and oil compensation and incorporates a battery-management system across the module and pack.
Systems scale from 1.8 kilowatt-hours to five megawatt-hours and can be pressure tested to 6,000-metre depth. Kraken configures packs for small AUVs, work-class vehicles and XLUUVs and supplies chargers, power-management units and integration hardware. The company reports twice the energy density and 46% lower weight per kilowatt-hour than traditional subsea batteries.
