Jul 10, 2026 · Contract Award · Mission Systems · Mission Software

Australia’s Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator awarded an aggregate A$6.2 million across BAE Systems Australia, L3Harris Integrated Mission Systems Australia and Mission Systems to develop communications and command technologies for controlling autonomous underwater vehicles under an AUKUS Pillar II innovation challenge.

  • The A$6.2 million figure is the aggregate value across three contracts and is not allocated by supplier.
  • The recipients are BAE Systems Australia, L3Harris Integrated Mission Systems Australia and Mission Systems.
  • The work targets communications and command technologies for autonomous underwater vehicle control.

Mission Systems develops onboard autonomy, sensing and perception software for robotic systems operating across air, land and sea. The Sydney company applies research in machine intelligence to navigation, mission planning, sensor processing and multi-vehicle coordination, including work with Bluefin autonomous underwater vehicles. In July 2026 it received an Australian AUKUS contract to develop communications and command technology for UUV control.
