  • USSOCOM awarded Mesodyne a $4.25 million prototype contract for a tactical expeditionary silent power generator.

Mesodyne engineers and manufactures compact thermophotovoltaic generators for portable, silent and long-endurance power. Founded in 2018 from MIT Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies research, its LightCell converts heat from multiple fuels directly into electricity without a conventional engine. The Somerville company targets small unmanned vehicles, soldier equipment and remote commercial systems where batteries impose severe endurance limits.
