Aurora demonstrates FALCON AI control on uncrewed surface vessels

Feb 19, 2026 · Demonstration · Aurora Flight Sciences · Aerial

Aurora Flight Sciences demonstrated FALCON AI-enabled control technology using paired uncrewed surface vessels in a maritime station-keeping scenario.

  • The DARPA LINC program demo used 1.5-meter and 5-meter uncrewed surface vessels to simulate underway replenishment hazards.
  • AI-guided control kept the vessel pair inside the safe zone 94% of the run and reduced recovery time after induced hazards by 61% versus manual control.
  • Aurora worked with MIT aerospace and marine autonomy labs on the learning-based control architecture.

Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing company, develops advanced aircraft, autonomous flight systems, propulsion and composite manufacturing processes. Founded in 1989 and headquartered at Manassas Regional Airport, it has designed and flown dozens of experimental and operational aircraft. Its programmes span high-altitude endurance, optionally piloted flight, advanced air mobility and autonomy research for defence and commercial customers.
