Trio launches Motion-PLC controller range for stand-alone machines
Trio Motion Technology launched the first controllers in its Motion-PLC range, combining EtherCAT motion control, machine logic and expandable I/O in a compact controller family.

Evidence notes
- The initial MCS 30, MCS 40 and MCS 50 models control as many as eight axes over high-speed EtherCAT.
- The controllers support up to 16 MS I/O slices, with expansion available to 1,024 digital ports and 128 analogue ports through the MS EC I/O coupler.
- Trio positioned the range for stand-alone automation including pick-and-place, gantries, glue laying and flying-shear applications.
Company context
Trio Motion Technology develops machine-motion controllers, servo drives, motors and programming software for coordinated industrial automation. Founded in 1987 in Tewkesbury, its Motion Coordinator range controls applications from a few axes to complex systems with as many as 128 axes.
