Rotacaster introduces 180 mm OMNIA wheel for heavy holonomic systems
Rotacaster introduced its largest OMNIA omni-wheel, extending the platform into heavier wheelchairs, industrial carts and holonomic mobile-robot drivetrains.

Evidence notes
- Pre-production testing showed dynamic load capacity increasing by 25–54% depending on roller hardness, with loads up to 200 kg per wheel.
- Lateral rollability improved by 24–30%, lowering the push and pull force required for sideways movement.
- The 180 mm wheel supports R2 and R3 configurations, a standard 20 mm bearing and a hexagonal driven bore intended to improve torque transfer.
Company context
Omnia Wheels, formerly Rotacaster, designs and manufactures patented multidirectional wheels in Beresfield, New South Wales. Its wheel uses fixed rollers around a rigid hub to provide omnidirectional movement without the complex roller geometry of a traditional mecanum wheel.
