Dec 16, 2024 · Contract Award · HyperKelp · Maritime

HyperKelp received a USD 1.8 million U.S. Air Force Direct to Phase II contract to advance Kelp Smart Buoy maritime-surveillance technology.

  • The effort expanded KSB multi-sensor capabilities for monitoring large ocean regions.
  • Buoy units were designed for deployment from government aircraft and cloud-based sensor fusion.
  • The contract supported scalable maritime awareness for commercial and defense networks.

HyperKelp develops autonomous buoy networks for persistent maritime monitoring. Its sensor platforms combine onboard processing, communications and configurable payloads to collect ocean and security data without the cost and limited persistence of crewed vessels. NATO DIANA selected the company for its 2026 programme, adding third-party validation and access to allied accelerator sites, test centres and defence users.
