Mito Robotics, now operating as Whelix, raised a $1 million pre-seed round from Draper Associates to accelerate its prototype for automating cell-culture work in life-science laboratories.

The financing supports a laboratory-automation system intended to reduce manual cell-culture work, a bottleneck the founders identified while conducting organ-transplant research at Carnegie Mellon University.
