Waymo receives California authority for wider robotaxi service area
California regulators approved a broader Waymo service footprint covering the East Bay, Wine Country and coastal areas toward Sea Ranch; Waymo says rollout will be gradual.

Evidence notes
- The permitted geography could support routes from Silicon Valley to Bodega Bay and north-coast communities, as well as travel through the Napa and Alexander valleys.
- Waymo said it has no immediate launch dates for the newly authorised areas and will share plans with residents and local officials as operations scale.
- The company separately plans to launch passenger service in San Diego later this summer while continuing technology validation in Sacramento.
Company context
Waymo develops autonomous-driving technology and operates robotaxi services through Waymo One.
