NASA awards Lunar Outpost $220M Pegasus LTV task order
NASA selected Lunar Outpost's Pegasus lunar terrain vehicle for a $220 million task order under the LTVS program. Pegasus supports crewed, autonomous, and teleoperated surface mobility for terrain characterization, material movement, resource prospecting, site preparation, and astronaut transport. A procurement award, not a study contract, for an autonomous surface vehicle operating in one of the most demanding environments any robot will face.
Xynova closes Series A, total funding nears $148M
Hangzhou-based Xynova completed a Series A of several hundred million RMB, led by Li Auto Strategic Investment and CSC Financial Capital with Xiaomi's VC arm participating, bringing cumulative funding to nearly 1 billion yuan, or roughly $148 million. The company makes dexterous hands and has added a 5,400-square-metre mass production line for its Flex 2 hybrid cable-driven plus direct-drive hand, with batch deliveries to named clients already underway.
Chinese hand manufacturers have been hot, Linkerbot recently closed a Series B+ at a $3 billion valuation and is reportedly preparing a Hong Kong IPO.
AGILINK adds another Chinese signal from the same layer, the AgiBot-linked dexterous-hand company this month completed a new financing of several hundred million yuan in May, pushing its valuation above $1 billion less than five months after its January founding
Defense and Drone Infrastructure
UTM infrastructure: Singapore and Malaysia in the same week
Two national drone traffic management awards landed simultaneously. CAAS awarded Thales, leading a consortium with Deeeplabs, the contract to deliver Singapore's UAS Traffic Management system on TopSky-AstraUTM. Malaysia's ClearPath UASTMS program selected Terra Drone group company Unifly for U2 operational traffic management.
Drone Dominance Program: XTEND and Volatus advance
XTEND was selected among a limited group for the Phase II qualifier of the U.S. DoD Drone Dominance Program, which targets procurement of more than 200,000 drones by 2027. XTEND will demonstrate its XOS operating system for human-guided autonomous operations at Camp Grayling, Michigan this summer. Volatus was separately selected to advance to the next phase. Both are procurement pathway signals, not signed orders.
Tycho AI: AFRL contract and T-REX validation in the same window
Tycho AI secured a $2 million AFRL TACFI contract for its TRIDENT maritime autonomy program, covering GPS-denied navigation, long-range ISR, multi-agent coordination, and resilient perception.
In the same week, Tycho completed 39 evaluated Halley VTOL UAS flights at T-REX 26-2, reaching 165 mph and 35 kilometers, with an inert ground strike and an aerial interception of a Shahed replica. Funded development contract plus live demonstration evidence in the same window.
Humanoids and Commercial Deployments
Figure / Catalyst Brands: named logistics deployment
Figure signed an agreement with Catalyst Brands to deploy humanoids into its distribution and logistics network, starting at the Reno, Nevada Distribution Logistics Center on physically demanding supply-chain tasks. Catalyst is a Brookfield portfolio company, with Brookfield named as a shared-investor bridge, a cleaner procurement path than a standalone customer agreement. Robot count, autonomy split, and throughput targets are not disclosed.
Sanctuary AI / Zeon: dexterous materials investment and partnership
Zeon Corporation, through Zeon Ventures, invested in Sanctuary AI and partnered on specialized elastomeric materials for dexterous robotic hands. Sanctuary's hand combines miniaturized hydraulic actuators and high-fidelity tactile sensing; Zeon contributes elastomeric material expertise and testing capacity.
FORT acquires Mapless AI
FORT acquired Mapless AI, adding remote human-in-the-loop teleoperation and onboard active safety to its platform. The Mapless AI team brings experience from Bosch, Apple, Uber, Aptiv, and nuTonomy. Safety and supervision capability continues to fold into robot platform companies rather than remaining as standalone services.
Research
Genesis World 1.0

AgiBot BFM-2
AgiBot introduced BFM-2, a two-stage Motion-Between locomotion foundation model supporting stable motion interpolation from static, preset, or random initial states, with demonstrated recovery from knockdown and autonomous balance restoration.
COBALT
Georgia Tech's PAIR Lab published COBALT, a cloud-native teleoperation platform that lets anyone operate a robot arm using a smartphone. Sub-100ms latency, 256 simultaneous clients across 8 GPUs demonstrated, and user studies across nine countries showed novice phone-based operators producing data comparable to specialized hardware. A meaningful attempt to attack the robot learning data bottleneck at scale without expensive lab infrastructure.
Wall-OSS-0.5
X Square Robot open-sourced Wall-OSS-0.5, a VLA model exploring whether pretrained checkpoints can produce testable robot capabilities before task-specific fine-tuning. Zero-shot real-robot evaluation showed task-progress scores above 80 on Block Sorting, Fruit Sorting, Ring Stacking, and Rope Tightening.
Data Collection
Shift launches free NYC apartment cleaning in exchange for robot training data
Shift launched May 28 in New York City offering free apartment cleaning on a single condition: vetted operators wear recording devices and capture a first-person video of the entire cleaning workflow. The footage is anonymized and sold to AI labs; Shift also uses some for its own internal research. The company reported demand for thousands of bookings on launch day.
The model is direct: subsidize a physical service to generate real-world household task data at scale, without building a lab or recruiting research participants. Microagi already runs data collection operations across several countries.
