Founded in 2004 and based in Albuquerque, Aspen Avionics develops retrofit and embedded electronics for general aviation, helicopters and aircraft integrators. Its established Evolution displays consolidate primary-flight and navigation information in certified cockpit hardware, while the NexNav family provides compact GPS/SBAS positioning for integration into aircraft systems. Aspen operates as a division of public aerospace and autonomy group AIRO.
The company’s advanced-air-mobility relevance is tied to a named component programme rather than a broad autonomy claim. Joby Aviation selected NexNav Mini for integration into its vehicle navigation computer, giving Aspen a direct position in an eVTOL guidance chain. Aspen supplies the certified receiver and associated navigation capability; Joby owns vehicle-level flight-control architecture and certification. Contract value, production volume and programme revenue have not been disclosed.
