Astronics supplies electrical power, connectivity, lighting, structures and test systems to aerospace and defence customers. Its CorePower architecture was selected to manage and protect low-voltage distribution on Vertical Aerospace’s Valo aircraft.
About
Astronics is a New York-based aerospace and defence technology group whose operating history dates to 1968. The company has expanded from aircraft lighting into a portfolio of power, connectivity, safety, structural and automated-test businesses, with products supplied to airframers, airlines, defence programmes and other mission-critical customers.
For advanced air mobility, the relevant layer is aircraft electrical architecture. Astronics’ CorePower family integrates solid-state power conversion and distribution hardware intended to reduce weight, wiring and cooling demand. Vertical Aerospace selected the company’s low-voltage distribution equipment for Valo, and the hardware was already integrated into flight-test aircraft when the agreement was announced. Astronics therefore sits in the certified subsystem supply chain; it does not build the aircraft or its autonomy stack.
