About

About Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi began as a Cambridge initiative to make programmable computers accessible and shipped its first board in 2012. The commercial group now develops Arm-based single-board computers, Compute Modules for embedded products, Pico microcontroller boards, RP2 silicon, cameras, displays and a maintained Linux software stack. It listed in London in 2024 while retaining a mission-linked relationship with the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

Robotics teams use the platform at several layers: Linux boards host ROS, perception and user applications; Compute Modules move established designs into production hardware; Pico-class controllers handle lower-level timing and I/O; and the camera ecosystem supports embedded vision. Raspberry Pi is therefore tracked as broadly available compute infrastructure. It enables many robots but does not own the autonomy application or finished machine built around it.
