About

About U070 (formerly VSR700)

Airbus U070 is the current name for the VSR700 uncrewed rotorcraft derived from the Cabri G2 helicopter. Its autonomous vertical take-off and landing enables operation from naval vessels without a runway. The aircraft is 6.2 metres long, has a 7.2-metre rotor diameter and a 760-kilogram maximum take-off weight, with an aviation-certified engine that can use diesel or jet fuel.

With a full intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance payload, U070 has an eight-hour endurance; a search-and-rescue configuration can reach ten hours. Payload integration can include maritime surveillance radar and electro-optical sensors. Airbus positions the platform for naval ISTAR, search and rescue, cargo transport and crewed-uncrewed teaming. France placed an order for the system in January 2026 after earlier autonomous flight and shipboard landing trials.
