EH216-S is EHang's two-seat pilotless electric vertical-take-off-and-landing aircraft for short urban passenger journeys and aerial sightseeing. Sixteen independent motors and propellers are arranged across eight folding arms, giving the aircraft a compact multirotor layout with distributed electric propulsion. The cabin carries two passengers and luggage while the aircraft follows predetermined routes without an onboard pilot.
The certified configuration has a maximum flight range of 30 kilometres, flight time of 25 minutes and maximum speed of 130 kilometres per hour, with a 220-kilogram payload and 620-kilogram maximum take-off weight. EH216-S received Chinese type, production and standard airworthiness certificates, and operator certificates subsequently enabled paid passenger services. Delivered aircraft have been used for tourism and low-altitude mobility demonstrations in multiple cities and countries.
