A9-M is Exail’s compact, man-portable autonomous underwater vehicle for defence and security missions. A two-person team can deploy and recover the 70-kilogram, two-metre vehicle from a small craft or rigid-hulled inflatable boat. Its low magnetic and acoustic signature, side-scan sonar, video camera and forward-looking obstacle-avoidance sonar support mine detection and classification, seabed survey, rapid environmental assessment and coastal surveillance.
The AUV operates from 3 to 300 metres depth and can run for up to 20 hours at 3 knots with the dual-battery configuration. Standard navigation combines an inertial navigation system, Doppler velocity log, depth sensor and GPS at the surface. Radio, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and acoustic links support mission preparation and status exchange, while the accompanying software covers planning, monitoring, post-processing and report generation. Its modular architecture also simplifies field maintenance and sensor integration.
