Intuitive da Vinci 5 is the company's fifth-generation multiport robotic surgical system, identified as model IS5000. Its surgeon console controls wristed endoscopic instruments on the patient cart while a separate vision cart supports the operating-room workflow. The system adds optional Force Feedback instruments that transmit push and pull forces from the instrument tip to the surgeon's hand controls.
The platform combines a redesigned console, three-dimensional imaging, integrated insufflation and electrosurgery, and substantially expanded computing capacity for analytics and connected training tools. Its U.S. indications cover specified urologic, general laparoscopic, gynecologic laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures, subject to the approved instruments and safety information. FDA 510(k) clearance arrived in March 2024, followed by a controlled initial release before broader commercial expansion.
