Kollmorgen KBM is a family of frameless brushless direct-drive motors designed to be integrated directly into a machine's own bearings and structure. The range spans servo and torque-motor form factors with customizable windings, stack lengths, connections and thermal or performance options.
About
KBM is Kollmorgen's frameless brushless direct-drive motor family for robot joints, machine tools and precision industrial motion. The rotor is supported by the host machine's bearings, allowing designers to embed the motor directly into their mechanical structure and eliminate gearboxes, belts, pulleys and coupling devices. This provides zero-backlash actuation in a compact package.
The worldwide commercial range spans 120–480 VAC servo and high-torque form factors. Published continuous stall torque runs from 0.49 Nm on KBM(S)-10 configurations to 3,445 Nm on KBM(S)-260 configurations. Kollmorgen offers modified windings, stack lengths, hubs, connections and thermal characteristics, so values must be resolved at exact part-number level before integration.
