About

About Iver4 580 UUV

Iver4 580 is a portable autonomous underwater vehicle for commercial and defence survey missions at depths down to 300 metres. Its sealed 780 Wh lithium-ion battery section can be replaced in the field without a vacuum pump or inertial-navigation realignment, reducing turnaround between six-hour missions. The standard vehicle weighs less than 45.4 kilograms, surveys at up to 4.5 knots and can exceed five knots in a sprint.

The forward section combines side-scan sonar, inertial navigation, a Doppler velocity log and a sound-velocity probe, with Gigabit Ethernet for rapid data retrieval. Shore-avoidance autonomy supports work in shallow water and surf zones, while VectorMap software handles mission planning and data review. In January 2025, L3Harris reported delivering three Iver4 580 vehicles to the Royal Navy's Project Wilton for mine-hunting and route-survey operations, followed by familiarisation trials with sailors.
