About

About Nuro R3

Nuro R3 is a purpose-built zero-occupant autonomous delivery vehicle introduced in 2022. Its modular heated and cooled cargo compartments hold up to 500 pounds or 27 cubic feet, with curb-side access for recipients. The automotive-grade platform combines redundant steering, braking, computing and power systems with an external front airbag designed to reduce pedestrian injury.

Nuro placed R3 vehicles on public roads for validation, then delayed the planned production line in May 2023 as it reduced delivery pilots and concentrated on the Nuro Driver autonomy platform. Subsequent programmes moved the Driver onto partner vehicles and robotaxi platforms. R3 remains a development and engineering-fleet vehicle from Nuro's delivery phase, distinct from the earlier R2 fleet and later partner-built vehicles.
