QinetiQ C-TALON is an amphibious tracked robot for coastal-water reconnaissance and sensor carriage.
About
C-TALON is QinetiQ's remotely operated tracked crawler for security, reconnaissance and mine-hunting work across land-water transitions. It can be launched from sand or water and is designed for surf zones, riverine and littoral areas, coastal waters and restricted harbours. The platform is rated for operation to 15 m and resists strong, changing currents while remaining on the seabed.
Navigation and mission equipment can include a compass, pressure sensor, odometer, GPS, fibre-optic link, imaging sonar, hydrophone and drive or inspection night-vision cameras. Its interoperable architecture accepts mission-specific sensors, so installed payloads vary by deployment. C-TALON derives from the tracked TALON platform but is a separate submersible product; it also differs from SEAScout, which is a free-swimming autonomous underwater vehicle.
