Wisk and NASA complete three-aircraft autonomy supervision trial

Wisk and NASA completed a high-fidelity simulation in which one ground supervisor managed three autonomous aircraft alongside conventional traffic and existing air-traffic-control tools.

  • The exercise tested a 1:3 supervisor-to-aircraft concept on routes between Moffett Field and San Martin Airport.
  • Controllers continued using existing procedures and tools while scenarios included operational contingencies.
  • The trial formed part of Wisk’s five-year NASA collaboration and does not represent certified passenger service.

Wisk Aero develops a self-flying, all-electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft and the ground systems required to supervise autonomous passenger operations. The Boeing-owned company combines aircraft, deterministic flight autonomy, sensing, fleet operations and airspace integration, with certification work centred on its four-seat Generation 6 air taxi.
