RAMLAB unveiled the class-approved WAAMpeller after its wire-arc-additively-manufactured ship propeller completed operational trials on a Damen tug.
Evidence notes
- RAMLAB fabricated the triple-blade nickel-aluminium-bronze propeller with wire arc additive manufacturing and Autodesk PowerMill software.
- Damen tested the second WAAMpeller on a Stan Tug 1606 in bollard-pull, crash-stop and speed trials under Bureau Veritas oversight.
- The printed propeller matched the behaviour of a conventional cast propeller during the tests, including the full-ahead to full-reverse crash-stop load case.
