Deep Ocean Engineering introduces Phantom FlyImager hybrid underwater drone
Deep Ocean Engineering introduced the Phantom FlyImager at Oceanology International 2016 as a hybrid platform combining EdgeTech side-scan sonar with its Phantom T5 ROV.

- The FlyImager combines an EdgeTech 4125 side-scan sonar with Deep Ocean Engineering's Phantom T5 remotely operated vehicle.
- Operators can tow the system to search acoustically, retract its stabilizing wings and convert it into a free-flying ROV for close optical inspection.
- The single-vessel design was presented as an alternative to deploying separate towfish and ROV systems for target identification and inspection.
