Beckhoff Automation provides PC-based machine control, industrial networking, motion, vision and robotics systems. TwinCAT and EtherCAT connect its industrial computers, drives, ATRO robot modules and XPlanar or XTS transport platforms.
About
Beckhoff Automation grew from control-cabinet and industrial-electronics work in Verl into a global family-owned automation supplier. Since 1980 it has promoted PC-based control: moving PLC, motion, CNC, measurement, vision and other machine functions onto industrial computers and a common software environment. TwinCAT software and the EtherCAT real-time network form the architectural centre of the portfolio.
The robotics layer now includes ATRO modular robot joints and links, XPlanar contactless planar transport, XTS linear transport and integrated machine vision. These products can be synchronized with conventional axes, safety and process logic within one control system, which is Beckhoff's main distinction from a standalone robot-arm supplier. The company is tracked as manufacturing-automation infrastructure because its control stack can coordinate complete cells and production machines even when the robot itself comes from another vendor.
