KRD Luftfahrttechnik is based in Bardowick, Germany, and develops aviation glazing under the KASIGLAS brand. The company carries out research, coating development and production in-house, allowing window geometry, optical performance and protective layers to be adapted to individual aircraft programmes. Its main materials are polycarbonate and polymethyl methacrylate, which reduce weight relative to conventional glass.
The finished systems are designed around more than light transmission: KRD describes abrasion resistance, fracture and splinter resistance, forming capability and bird-strike performance for aviation applications. Eve Air Mobility chose custom KASIGLAS windows for its eVTOL cockpit and passenger doors, placing KRD inside the aircraft’s long-term prototype, production and aftermarket supply chain.
