ATRO is Beckhoff's modular industrial robot system for building application-specific kinematics from motor, link, base and system modules integrated into TwinCAT and EtherCAT.
About
Beckhoff ATRO is a modular industrial robot system assembled from motor, link, base and system modules. Machine builders can configure structures ranging from a single-axis rotary table to four-axis pick-and-place or palletising mechanisms, six- and seven-axis serial arms, and multi-arm arrangements. The common mechanical and electrical interface lets modules form application-specific geometries around the machine.
Power, data and fluids run internally through the modules, allowing each joint to rotate continuously without external cable bundles limiting travel. EtherCAT coordinates the axes in sub-millisecond cycles, while TwinCAT combines robot motion with the machine’s PLC, vision, safety and auxiliary axes. Beckhoff currently labels ATRO a product announcement with market launch expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, so the profile remains development-stage until orderability is confirmed.
