R4 is New Holland's tracked autonomous specialty-crop robot family, with narrow electric and higher-power hybrid variants for vineyard and orchard work.
About
New Holland R4 is a tracked autonomous robot family designed around the narrow rows and existing implements used in vineyards and orchards. The Electric Power concept is 700 millimetres wide, 1.38 metres high and about one tonne, with a 40 kWh battery and 500 kg rear hitch for vineyard rows from 1.0 to 1.5 metres. Suspended rubber tracks reduce soil compaction while the electric drivetrain supports low-speed field work.
The larger Hybrid Power variant is 1.2 metres wide and weighs about 1.4 tonnes for orchard rows of at least 1.5 metres. Its 44 kW HVO-compatible generator feeds the electric drive and two 4 kWh batteries, with a 540 rpm PTO and 48 V, 12 kW electrical implement interface. New Holland previewed both machines as development concepts for autonomous spraying and other crop-care jobs under remote supervision.
