Vertical unveils advanced VX4 prototype with strategic supplier systems

Vertical unveiled its next-generation full-scale VX4 prototype with systems from GKN Aerospace, Leonardo and other strategic aerospace partners.

  • Vertical said 60% of the prototype's technology came from strategic partners including GKN Aerospace, Hanwha, Honeywell, Leonardo, Molicel and Syensqo.
  • The prototype introduced Vertical's proprietary battery technology and a 20% higher power-to-weight ratio, with a target cruise speed of up to 150 mph.
  • Vertical planned to begin the flight-test programme after receiving a UK Civil Aviation Authority Permit to Fly.

Vertical Aerospace develops Valo, a piloted four-passenger electric VTOL aircraft, alongside a hybrid-electric variant for longer-range and defence missions. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Bristol, the company is flight-testing the aircraft and integrating autonomous-flight technology for future uncrewed operations.
