Einride orders 500 Tesla Semis for Saga AI fleet rollout

Aug 18, 2026 · Partnership · Einride · Logistics

Einride plans to deploy 500 Tesla Semi electric trucks on its Saga AI fleet-intelligence platform for Amazon and other customers across North America.

The order scales an AI-orchestrated electric-freight network without overstating the trucks as autonomous vehicles.

  • The phased rollout begins in September 2026 and runs for 24 months across freight corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia.
  • Einride says the 500-truck addition will roughly triple its deployed electric-truck fleet and convert signed shipper contracts into revenue-generating capacity.
  • The autonomy relevance is Saga AI fleet orchestration and optimisation; the announcement does not describe the Tesla Semis themselves as driverless or autonomous vehicles.

Einride develops and operates digital, electric and autonomous road-freight systems. Founded in Stockholm in 2016, the company combines cabless autonomous vehicles, electric trucks, charging infrastructure, remote operations and Saga AI transport-management software. Its customer base spans major shippers in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, with commercial deployments designed around complete freight networks rather than vehicle sales alone.
