Walden launches with a $300M seed

The Toyota Research Institute spinout is already deploying full-stack physical AI systems inside Toyota manufacturing.

Walden Robotics has launched with a $300 million seed round at a $1.1 billion valuation.

The company only spun out of Toyota Research Institute in January.

By February, its robots were already performing production work at a Toyota plant in North America, moving from an initial pilot to real factory work in under two months.

Toyota and Deviation Capital co-led the round, with NVIDIA, Boeing, Samsung Ventures, Prologis Ventures, CoreWeave Ventures and others joining.

Walden is commercialising roughly a decade of research its team helped develop at TRI, including Diffusion Policy and Large Behavior Models for robot manipulation.

Rather than launching as a robot-model lab alone, it is building the full stack: hardware, software, physical AI and the deployment layer.

Its robots are already being used for machine tending, tool setting, parts kitting and assembly, with the company also working across aerospace, semiconductors, electronics, logistics and life sciences.
