Bedrock Robotics is building heavy equipment automation into a retrofit industrial stack
A 270 million dollar Series B round and large-scale autonomous earthmoving deployments accelerate commercial installation of hardware upfit kits across mixed heavy machinery fleets.

The 270 Million Dollar Capitalization And CapitalG Ledger
Bedrock Robotics closed a 270 million dollar Series B funding round on February 4, 2026, expanding its capital allocation for autonomous heavy machinery deployments. The financing followed an 80 million dollar combined Seed and Series A capitalization cycle completed in July 2025. CapitalG co-led the financing tranche alongside the Valor Atreides AI Fund. Additional investment participants included Xora, 8VC, Eclipse, Emergence Capital, Perry Creek Capital, NVentures, Tishman Speyer, Georgian, Incharge Capital, C4 Ventures, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The 65,000 Cubic Yard Sundt Construction Excavation Run
Sundt Construction deployed Bedrock autonomous excavation systems to move 65,000 cubic yards of earth and rock on a 130-acre manufacturing facility project in the Southwest United States. The automated hardware tracked standard manual truck-loading cycles to load human-operated articulated rock trucks. Installed across factory-standard Caterpillar chassis, the retrofits operated on 80-ton excavators to support a total projected site movement layout of 700,000 cubic yards.
The Bedrock Operator system functions as a same-day hardware upfit kit for existing contractor excavator fleets. The hardware layer integrates LiDAR, GPS, and onboard motion sensors to execute jobsite navigation, path planning, and repetitive truck-loading routines. Commercial customer accounts using the platform include Austin Bridge & Road, Zachry Corporation, Champion Site Prep, and Sundt Construction.
The Waymo Autonomy Leadership Cohort
Boris Sofman serves as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, leading an engineering and operations team composed of former Waymo autonomy specialists. The executive group includes Co-Founder and CTO Kevin Peterson, Vice President of Engineering Tom Eliaz, Vice President of Engineering Ajay Gummalla, and Chief Operating Officer Laurent Hautefeuille, who established the enterprise in 2024.
Bedrock 80 Ton Excavator Verification Boundary
Customer and partner material names Austin Bridge & Road, Champion Site Prep, Sundt Construction, Zachry Corporation and other contractor accounts across autonomous earthmoving work. Public material does not show contractor-level retention rates, factory production cadence for the upfit kits, unit economics by jobsite, autonomy intervention rates, or verified field performance records across excavator systems scaled to 80 tons.
